Is it possible play soccer in america for a small local team?

I want to travel to america and play soccer while i am over there, could i play for a small usa team and be paid around $200-$300 a week? Do many teams operate by paid contracts ? If so, how good would you need to be to get about 200-300 dollars a week? Any advice?
HI thanks so far, i have had trials before for crewe and cork city, bohs. Was there 6 months at bohs but damaged my leg and just getting back playin now. I think i would be good enough, not being arrogant.
